Pittsburgh Corning FOAMGLAS® Insulation for high temperature piping and equipment
Watertight & water vapourtight
In high temperature service, water from rain, snow or periodic deluge testing can penetrate the insulation system through a damaged or deteriorated weather barrier.
The process heat involved will dry out the water to a certain extent, but a suprisingly large amount of water will still remain.
This results in corrosion problems under the wet insulation and a substantial increase in heat loss.
The selection of an insulating system which is watertight and water vapourtight is particurly important.
Non-combustible
As FOAMGLAS® insulation is pure glass - without any binders or fillers - it can not burn.
FOAMGLAS® insulation helps to prevent the risk of fire and explosion due to the absorption of flammable liquids through the wicking effect.
In fact, the cellular glass insulation will work to protect piping and equipment from damage during fires. It will neither cause flame spread nor toxic fumes.
In many cases, plants insulated with FOAMGLAS® insulation have avoided costly shut-down periods after a fire.
